We all know they don't like copper, so why have I never heard of anyonev planting in copper pots? Would it taint the soil in some way?

Nope, you can pot hostas in copper pots, I saw a great one once in an old copper coal-scuttle.....mind you, the hosta itself could have been in a plastic pot that was just sat in the scuttle, either way, the woman who planted it had no problems with the slimy ones.
Seen the price of scrap copper, dont put them out the front !!
