Hello All,

Whatever happened to Spring from last week? Cold and dull here in London.

My little indoor palm, which was flourishing and happy as anything before the Winter, is now anything but happy.

It tries to put out new leaves - these eventually turn darker green, then brown, then wilt. I have cut many off already.

It is about a 3rd of the density it used to be.

I fed it a week ago, in an attempt to revive it a bit. Nothing.

It is in its usual bright spot in the living room, up high on a shelf, away from direct draught and all sources of heat. It has plenty of sun and was very happy up there for 2 years or so.

Has it got a disease?

I can't see any insects. Maybe a rust??

All other plants in my living room are fine and healthy.

Thank you and may the warm weather soon return!

Anyone? Please?

I think it needs regular  misting - all that warm dry air from the radiator is drying it out.

Repot it into some good houseplant compost and mist the leaves.

They do not like over watering or as Dove has mentioned above, the atmosphere to be too dry. An east or north facing bathroom is best for them - not direct sun. They come from rainforest floors, where light is indirect.

Thanks Dove - I have misted the leaves though...and it is in a cool room without a strong radiator and no double glazing

I'll try repotting though.

Thanks Blairs - mine is east facing, with about 1 hour max of morning direct light, then just bright light. I will try to mist it more frequently though, as probably haven't done this enough.
