My damson tree has developed sticky looking lumps of weeping yelowy-orange goo on the whole of one limb. What is it, please? Suzi
Could it be canker? Check here.
Has your tree been damaged? Perhaps it is a slime mould. I think you can just wash them off.
on my cherry tree there is a clear glue like ooze from the bark, this I thought was due to some sort of insect,is it like that?
In both cases as suggested gum oozing from the bark can be a sign of Bacterial canker.
def. sounds like canker. Can you remove the limb below the canker? then burn the limb and wash your lopers
Thankyou everyone I think I'll prune out the affected limb and burn it.
