Japanese maple

I bought some Japanese Maple seeds a few weeks age. I read the instructions about putting them in warm water for a coulpe of day and then put them in a damp plastic bag for a period of time. At the moment the soil is dry, the question is do I dampen the soil again and keep it damp until the next stage.
