Kilmarnock Willow

My Kilmarnock Willow which is very young and planted in a large tub had no catkins this Spring and several of the branches have not come up with any foliage at all.

Now I can see what you see in the above photos.  I don't know if the little orange fly thing has anything to do with the damage.

Does anyone know if I can rectify this at all.  The leaves on the foliaged branches are all like this.

Here is the underside of one of the leaves.  They are all like this with little orange spots.  Any ideas?

  • Yes, this does seem to be rust. It's a fungal disease and I've used 'Roseclear' with some degree  of success in the past.
