When we moved into our house 4 or 5 years ago we had a lovely lawn. However, it is being taken over by clover and buttercups.

Is there a decent 'Weed and Feed' or any other method I could use to get my lawn back, please?

I recommend this. Don't be alarmed if your lawn turns black, this happened to me, it all depends on how much clover and other weeds are in your garden. Once applied wait for about 6 weeks to really see if it has worked. 

I applied about 3 weeks ago and it is still killing the weeds.

There's a piece in GW mag - September edition regarding care of your lawn at this time of year. Any autumn weed and feed is recommended as this kills the weeds and encourages root development, don't purchase a spring one as this encourages top grow which isn't needed at this time of year.    

As Doc says don't be alarmed if area's go black after putting on a weed and feed, those are the weeds dying.
