My  astilbes produced flowers but did not bloom  for the first time in five years, anyone know what caused that.

I think it was too  dry.  If I recall we had a late cold spring but mid spring onwards into summer buf was dry.  Astilbes flourish in wettish conditions and in shade.  Are yours in the sun and/ or in a dry spot?  My best astilbes are in good soil.

Hey lynredshaw, just noticed.  You said your plants "produced flowers but did not bloom"........?  Confused

Not quite sure what you mean, but as Verdun says astilbes are moisture lovers. I grow mine in a boggy area which also gets a good amount of sun and they flowered as normal this year.
