I bought some paper white narcissus bulbs just before Christmas and planted them in pots indoors using multi purpose compost.  They started growing well but I've just noticed the plants and pots are covered in what looks like tiny little flies.  I've put them straight outside as I don't want the flies getting into anything else!  I was wondering whether the flies have come from the bulbs or perhaps the compost?

Probably  compost flies. Give them a quick squirt with flykiller. Spray the compost rather than the plants.

Thanks, I'll give it a go!

Just seen this - I also had the same problem last year, was thinking of trying them in a large vase with pebbles this year

Put a layer of grit over the compost.......that should greatly reduce the fly problem
