Red Flowering Currant -Dying -Why?

I have had this for 5/6 years -two weeks ago I noticed branches wilting -this has now turned to this-dead yellowish crispy leaves

This is the other side-and obviously how it should look-but it is spreading

All plants around it around are fine but the one I had before went the same way- but after 3 years of growth

It flowered normally earlier in the year-no sprays,no weedkillers have been used

Anybody any ideas what has happened?-I am flummoxed.

That is exactly what happened to mine at about the same age.  I don't know what happened but I couldn't stop it.  I cut off all the branches which were dying back but it didn't save the rest of the plant.

  • gosh this is happening to mine. I noticed in spring this year it was not a leafy as before.Yesterday I thought it looks illIts still alive .Does it need a drink!

It looks like the plant is next to a wall and possible tarmac path?
Is it able to get water through to the roots?
The weather has been so hot it does look as though it is suffering from lack of water.
