Rose pruning advice please

Hi,

I need to prune my Dublin Bay rose but am not sure how. Can anyone give me some advice on where I should cut back to please?

Thanks in advance.

the long leading shoot on the left, I'd try to turn it about half way down and get the top half is tied in horizontally. It'll produce lots of new shoots that way.

I'd cut the middle stem down to about half and let it shoot away again.

Bit difficult to tell from the photo, but I hope it's of some use.

I'd prune the side shoots (the ones growing off the main stems) to three or 4 buds, roughly 6 inches. But I usually do it in March, though it can be done earlier.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • This system makes sense and is a variation of what I do myself.....pretty well the same principal  as some apple training methods.

  • Really helpful advice thank you. Will post a pic when done as a hopeful help to others.
