Squirrel problems

Hi I live in Essex and have been suffering from a squirrel that digs up my various planters. It eats quite a lot of corms and as such my display is the worse for it.
Far short of executing the weekend blighter, anyone got sound advice?
Any help much appreciated.
Best regards
Ronnie

I've seen planters squirrel proofed by chicken wire cut to fit inside the planter . 1" mesh should allow bulbs and corms to grow through. 2" can be planted through - just.
My problem's moles. If it stops raining I'll try to get a photo of the latest Ayers Rock on my lawn.
