We have recently had several trees removed including a number of conifers. We need to landscape the entire garden and I want to, ideally, remove the tree roots where possible. Can anyone advise whether removal is viable or should we just use a stump grinder? Grateful for your views.

The last tree stump I removed involved a large vehicle, a winch and a chain. Now I just cut things down and plant stuff to grown over the remaining stump until it rots.

Many tree surgeons  will have equipment for tree stump removal. I wouldn't attempt it myself .

Can a small digger get in there?  A neighbour....my cousin....had a row of castlewellan Leylandii removed recently.  Cut half way and then dug out with a digger.

Always best to clear stumps.  They will be a problem for many years otherwise.

Thanks for your views, I will see what we can do with a bob cat and take it from there!
