I've recently rescued a twisted willow from a garden centres reduced section for the grand sum of £3, however the care label was missing and I have no idea what its preferences are, do they like shade, full sun etc? Can they grow in a container (I rent my house and am a loathe to plant anything in the ground as I get attatched to my plants and wouldn't want to leave any behind!)

probably best in a container, won't take over the world like that. It's a big tree when let loose.

Thank you, are they a shade loving plant or do they prefer a bright sunny spot?

I think it'd be happy with some shade. Willows are very thirsty plants, so I wouldn't be surprised if after a while it fails to thrive in a pot, but it's worth a try.

Hi (Hazypopz), i was reading with interest your questions on twisted willow, well i asked a similar question at the Malvern Spring Garden Show recently and the very helpful chap from a local nursery advised against keeping it in a pot for too long. He did advise to change the growing medium every couple of years or so and the size of the container must increase too. Add slow release fertiliser to the mix and water often (deluge) during Spring and summer and liquid feed weekly. Good luck and let me know how you get on as i have two Indian Bean trees in large pots.
