Wallflowers and roses

Have just been told by neighbour that wallflowers can affect roses, e.g. 'don't plant wallflowers where you want to plant roses in the future'.

This started me wondering about whether wallflowers could trigger 'Rose repeat disease'.

Does anyone know about this?

Part of the brassica family so club root could be a problem but still can't see a connection to roses.

Never heard that one before but wallflowers are happy in poor soil whereas roses are quite hungry. Maybe the theory is that if you are feeding/mulching the soil for your roses you may get more lush green growth but fewer flowers on your wallflowers?

That could be it. The person who told me about this has had the information passed down through the family as a gospel truth.
