Very pretty ..... but what are they and to what extent can their damage be?

Had the lavender for years but never these Beetles!

It's a rosemary beetle they eat lavender and thyme too.

of been in the area and caught wiff of the lavender!

Hiya jennie

Not seen these myself but have heard of them over past couple of years.  They can cause a lot of damage I thnk.  Can you pick them off?  Or use a systemic insecticide.

I seem to remember them turning up from Europe about 8 years ago?  I think they eat the growth tips. I've never seen one in person, they are very pretty.

Have just found some on my lavender for first time. How do you get rid of them.

Hand-picking, then killing them off in a bucket of salty or soapy water. With taller plants you can shake the branches over a newspaper to collect the blighters. Get the stomping boots on.
