Does anyone know what this weed is?

Has it got lots of fragile looking white roots and spreads around a lot?

When does it flower?

What colour are the flowers?

How tall does it get?

I don't know about any of those things. It has only just appeared for the first time. I've had the garden for three years but haven't seen it before.

Is there just the one then?

No there are a few. I've zapped them with weed killer. I'll pull them up at the weekend and see what the roots are like.

Try checking out enchanter's nightshade.

Good idea.  enchanter's nightshade was my first thought (little white roots) but not convinced.

Are you sure it's a weed?

Thanks. I've googled it and it does look possible. Wikipedia says it spreads via burrs on fur and we get a lot of foxes and cats in our garden so it is quite possible that it has come in on one of them.

Look for the white roots to confirm.

I agree that it is enchanters nightshade. I have it and it is a pain. Have bben trying to eradicate it without success for a few years. It does have pretty flowers though.

It does have pretty flowers punkdoc, I introduced it deliberately, against the advice of the person I was begging it from. One of my many gardening errors
