Woodworm in healthy laburnum

Hi there! Our twenty foot laburnum appears healthy, flowered beautifully etc. however, I've just noticed it's suffered from woodworm, killing off some of the larger branches. One of them is twisted around another, growing from the base, both about 5/6 inches thick. Do I cut them out? Will it destabilise? If it will, do I risk the woodworm spreading? What to do??! Thanks in advance!

I thought woodworm was just on old dead wood not living wood?

woodworm wont be killing the shrub, it'll be eating the already dead heartwood,

the woodworm will spread to any dead wood so you wont remove it (when you see the holes its the adults leaving after munching the wood-the grubs show very little sign)

I would do nothing unless the branches start to look dangerous

Oh that's good news! Thought it was slowly eating it from the inside out!

    Thank you both!
