Thought i could get extra information about things that feature on Gardeners World on this site but seems that apart from the name and a few ads there is nothing connecting them. Bit rubbish since Monty tells us to check it out each week...
Anyone know the name of the white pink/red striped tulips in Monty's writing garden featured on Friday?
The GW programme is pretty hopeless about providing info to the GW website which is, in fact, run by the magazine which has Monty Don as a regular contributor but not an editor. Beechgrove, produced independently in Scotland, has a very good factsheet for each programme and with back issues available.
The Gardeners' World show began 21 years ago as a spin off from the TV programme and was run by the BBC Haymarket Publications dept. For many years now it has been run in partnership with the RHS which organises its floral and plant content and has, for the last few years, been combined with BBC Good Food and Countryfile shows.
If you want to know more about the GW show, you need to go to the RHS website.
This is a link to this weeks GW programme. -Hard to find info though
This is a link to clips rom the programme
No information sheets though.
Very frustrating - should take a leaf out of Beechgrove Gardens book
Thanks. Someone should have a word with Monty.....
I really enjoy the format of the show now and I absolutely adore Nigel (Monty's dog). He is sooo gorgeous and a real cool dude, he should be listed in the credits.
I remember when he was ill (Nigel, not Monty) and so many viewers had asked where he was, Monty had to do regular updates. Somehow it makes the programme less stuffy.
Still no fact sheets, why not I wonder. Even a proper list of the plants shown would help.
Anyone know the name of the blue Geranium that Carol bought at the Malvern show last week?
I'm sure I saw Carol buy a pink one
Yes, it was pink - if you click on the BBC Gardeners World programme link here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01ytkmt and then click on the Episode 9 you'll find it towards the end of the recording
Yes Dove she bought 3 pink plants as they matched her bag no idea of the name though LG 2, suggest watching it again via i-player
It was a G. cinereum cultivar.
But that's all I remember, there was a tread on here asking about it. If you look through new threads from Friday evening you'll find it.
..Geranium cinereum 'Melody'... quite nice..
Thanks very much everyone, it has gone onto my wish list.
I get the Touchwood aquilegia news letter. Touchwood is on GW this week
