Christopher dont want to teach grandma how to suck eggs etc. but are you aware there is an edit function on this site that enables you to change or add to posts as long as no-one else has replied?
These iPads aren'all they are cracked up to be- no smileys,no edit-do they do beans on toast and make tea?

firat thankyou for your suggestions I have had a look at a map and it seems that the garden you recomended is abot hour and a half from me so i will suggest to the lady wife that she makes a picnic and go out there on the next nice day.christophe2 i have made a not of all your plants i do not think i will have room for all of them in mygarden but i will see what i can find i have had some news about the chance of a job so i will be putting the nursery idea o hold for a few days intil i have heard wether i have a chance with that as the pay is ok.maudinthegren what mistake did i make.sotongeoff were is the edit feature.

Didnt mean you had many mistakes we all have our funny ways of doing things and think it is the right way and someone else might think it is wrong. Did that make sense? if it didnt very sorry not having a good week .

-after you have posted and you notice a mistake you can correct it by going to the bottom right hand corner of your posting- a blue icon will appear click on that- it goes back to your message and you can make changes
It only works providing yours is the last message -if someone posts after you can't edit

figrat thank you so much for suggetin that i checked the opening times, the lady wife phoned them this morning and they told her that they have stopped opening for this year so we have saved ourselves a wasted journey.i will have to put a note on the calender so that we remember to go next year.christopher2 i have had some joy growing eucomis this year and had some admiring comments frm my nieghbours i wonder if you had ever propagated these has i had heard that you can do it by cutting up the leaves but when i tried it they just rootted.

@ keiths lemon - here's a pic which I took at the wildside about 6 years ago, much more established now, but it gives you a bit of a feel for it. It's been started from scratch by a husband and wife team - he's Keith Wiley who used to be Head Gardener at the Garden House which is just down the road from the Wildside. Myself and a few of my friends adore it, and go over at least twice a year, Keith's always working in it and pottering around, it is so difficult to describe but, with the possible exception of Great Dixter (the late great Christopher Lloyd's garden), the most inspiring and magical gard
