has any one else noticed that their apple blossom is a bit sparse?

Mine is not nearly as flowery as usual and I'm in SW France, but the cherries and greengages were great. Also orchards near here looked a bit sparse too.

Don't know where you are donna, but my tree is only now starting to blossom. I'm more concerned with the frost which is forecast. Apple's blossom over a few weeks so it's still early really, be patient.

I'm in South Yorkshire and didn't get round to pruning my tree last winter (only moved in at the start of December and it kept slipping down the to do list) but have noticed that we're only just getting blossom. The pear tree has been and gone and the crab apple tree is about a week ahead.

I don't know if the lack of pruning is reason for the poor turn out so far.

My Crab Apples and Pear were fantastic all finished around a week ago the apples all look poor and have only been out around 10 days, had a poor crop of apples last year too..

Just peeked at my neighbours apple tree and it is smothered in blossom, looks lovely. We are in the warm south though.

My dessert apple ( old inherited tree so variety not known ) and my neighbour's old Bramley are both covered in blossom.  Both had an excellent crop last year so be interesting to see what happens this year (Somerset).
