Lovely show but where were the Blackmore and Langdons begonias and delphiniums. ,African violets. And chrysanthemums. Let's have more of the marque exhibitors and less concrete
Why does the RHS persist in calling the show the Chesea Flower Show when there are always exhibits of vegetables included Surely the RHS spring Show would be more appropriate.
I was there for several days during build-up and 4 days during the show as I was part of the small group of members of the Hardy Plant Society Kent group that built and planted a garden display 'Over the Garden Gate' in the pavilion (photos and blog on our website). We were awarded silver-gilt (obviously we would have liked gold) but our display seemed very popular with members of the public who appreciated the interesting and colourful planting. I was not impressed with the television coverage; I haven't caught up with it all yet but from what I have seen there was a great deal of repeating things ad nauseum, particularly the show gardens and so-called celebrities, with limited in-depth focus on plants: the coverage now seems aimed at non gardeners. I miss the red button tours of the pavilion displays.
Got to agree.
My heart skipped a beat when I got a glimpse at the marquee displays, but they were soon gone. And I have been bored and irritated with the repeat clips.
And I set off with such enthusiasm to enjoy it all, albeit from my sofa.
Yes too much on the outside gardens, a lot with too much hard landscaping. I too wanted to see more of the specialist stands in the marquee. The show should be all about the the plants be they flowers, veg or anything else. It is going too much towards walls, rocks and water. Whilst these have a place they should not dominate.
Dan Pearson looked disheveled with his grubby old mac and unkempt hair!
I thought Chelsea was a "special" honour to be part of, so please respect the occasion.
I missed Alan Titchmarsh - where was he?
I loved Carol Klein and Chistine Walkman(?). More of them presenting please - true plant lovers, not lovies!!!!
