Clematis Montana

I moved house recently and have inherited a very large Clematis Montana. I would like to move it to a different location in the garden. Can anyone offer any advice please.

If its very large, I would take cuttings now, , as back up. Then hack it all down and try and move the large rootball when its dormant, say October. You'll probably lose it though, hence the internodal cuttings as back up.

  • Thank you. It is quite large so I will take your advice and take some cuttings.

I wish I could lose mine image  Flipping thing won't go away.

  • fidgetbones has good advice. Clems hate root disturbance. Depending on weather, would wait until winter to move when sap not rising.
  • Thank you.
