See you were in Kingsbridge today. If you get the chance, a few miles north on the A38 at Ashburton, on the edge of Dartmoor, is the Dartmoor Lodge Hotel - they get their meat from a local farm, and their steaks are the best I've found.

I don't have shares in the hotel - my sister lives on thenortherly edge of the moors, and this hotel is a nice stop-over when I'm down there. Give Albert a rest tonight!

Enjoy the West Country - when you buy the property you will no longer be classed as a Grockle or Emmet!

06/11/2013 at 17:26

.........tourists or holiday-makers - emmets in Cornwall, grockles in Devon and Dorset.

More often used in Cornwall - once across the Tamar it's another country don't you know!

06/11/2013 at 20:08

Don't I know it! I miss my lovely Cornwall.

06/11/2013 at 21:08

Oh sure, probably 4 or 5 times a year. Sister lives on the northern edge of Dartmoor, so we go down to her, and then onwards for a few days in Kernow. Have stayed in my birthplace at Pentillie, which is now probably the most luxurious B & B in the UK - check the website!

06/11/2013 at 21:24

The bedrooms at the rear look straight across to Dartmoor, with the Tamar in the foreground - perfection!

The Tamar valley is Cornwall's best kept secret!

06/11/2013 at 21:46

...........luckily, so well hidden that most English tourists cross the Tamar bridges and go racing on towards Newquay and St. Ives !

08/11/2013 at 18:19

Evening Brumbull and all

I want to get the grass cut but rain won't stop, maybe another day

managed to go get some plants for cheap violas and others, also send seeds for seed swap

08/11/2013 at 18:43

Evening Brumbull and GG.

Sounds like you've both been busy today. I piddled around a bit this morning and finally got off my chuff late afternoon to dig out the biggest dahlia. It was in a bed where I want to plant a couple of roses, but will do that tomorrow. The dahlia tuber is almost a foot across, will have to split it in Spring or take cuttings.

Sorry your offer wasn't accepted Brumbull, will you up it a bit?

08/11/2013 at 18:58

Swiss sue

that dahlia has made big roots,

here is a pic of plants I got

http://s4.gardenersworld.com/uploads/images/original/33815.jpg?width=273&height=350&mode=max

all to go into planters and some for front garden

08/11/2013 at 19:07

Decisions, decisions, it's a hard life!

Those plants look lovely GG, what a bargain. Nothing as cheap as that here, unless they're already dead or dying!

08/11/2013 at 19:45

only a few mouldy flower picked off now sure they are all not that bad plants, thought I would go for one of each colour planter brighten up the front door area and one of those purple cabbages see how that looks in the garden as not tried that before

That is because they do wholesale mainly of cut flowers and lots of fireworks there, but are open to the public so I guess they buy lots and want to sell them off quick

If you do like it that much Brumbull put in another offer.
