How hardy are my plants
I've grown Monarda fistulosa from seed, still in pots. Will I need to put it in the cold GH for winter or can I plant out
and Allium senescens, recently bought at the end of season sale. I don't know this one, it's not like the other allium bulbs. Is it hardy?
Thanks all

From what I've read the A senescens can be grown in USDA zones 4 - 8 which should make it hardy in Cambs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardiness_zone and the Monarda in zones 3 - 9
But I've no experience of either

Thanks Dove. Not sure about the allium, it looks like chives with angular stems but it was £1 and had made 3 plants

Have you had a look here http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/PlantFinder/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?kempercode=y720
Sounds as if it will spread like Allium triquetum !!!

That's fine, I like Allium triquetum and I haven't got a rockery for them to seed into.
A lot of the alliums are invasive aren't they, A. christophii comes up everywhere.

Good heavens Fishy. My plant knowledge is tiny. Hardy perennials and shrubs. That's the lot.
