Well there we are - I have just completed 1 year's Lunar Gardening and it has been a great success! We are still eating Spring Onions/Chinese Salads/New Potatoes! and the Broad Beans are flowering already as promised (All outside) We sowed and harvested to the day according to the moon, and I have to say that I am going to have another go this year. The temptation to ignore dates was enormous particularly during what I would call good planting days, but I persisted and as an experiment with a few items ignoring dates, and they were not as good. Anyone else happy with their results?
I've never tried it, but when we first moved to France our neighbour, the local farmer's wife was very keen. Then she said that my veg was doing better than hers and my tomatoes were earlier and she couldn't understand why. But there must be something in it as the older French are very for it. But I think the weather has a lot to do with it.
One of the panel on Gardener's Question Time (Sorry I forget who) last year was going to try it as an experiment. Does anyone know how they got on? Yes, here in France it is practised extensively and included in all the gardening magazines and even Lunar Diaries are out now for 2014. The Garden Fairs often have exhibitors who only use Lunar techniques and the results are stunning.
