Morello cherry

Hi, I have just been given a morello cherry tree by work colleagues as a retirement present. Is it ok to plant in a pot & what compost should I use? It says on the label it grows to 3 metres (10ft), but we have quite a windy garden so thought a pot on the patio would be more sheltered.

Mine is in clay soil and quite a windy site. Can limit the fruit as you lose flowers if windy but it still crops. I top feed with fish and bonemeal every year and water in summer...prob should prune one day...so I would say plant it where you want it. Unless you have a large pot it is not going to like drying out.
Thanks for that information. I might plant it against the back wall facing NW, but this is normal soil & I thought I'd read somewhere that cherries like acid soil. Should I dig in some ericacious.
