im having problems with grubs covered in dirt eating the leaves on certain lillies this year could any one help?  what can i do to resolve this, as its ruining the look of these lovely plants,, regards Ed

Those are the larvae of the infamous red Lily beetle.  The best way is to remove them manually - a messy job but if you don't kill them now they will overwinter in the soil and adult beetles will emerge, lay more eggs and both young and old will devastate your plants next year.

sounds  like red lillie beetle, their offspring cover themselves with their own excrement. i try to be organic, and pick off the beetles. maybe try to spry with a garlic and soap solution.
