Some of the small new leaves look green and yellow, not green and white, I think it has something wrong with it. Saying that I would still have no idea what it is.

 Sue I think you are right.  Hibiscus most definitely but which one I don't know. There are many variegated ones and most of them not hardy.

Swiss Sue it is definitely not Hibiscus as I have one and it has a different leaf.

The leaves can vary Rosebud especially if the plant is young but basically they are heart shaped, a vein runs through the middle and the leaves point down. Also the flowers always grow from the base of the leaf like that. Pretty sure it is one.
