Hi, my friend has had a new lawn put down & instead of top dressing it with top soil he top dressed it with 'sure grow seed & cutting compost', there are a couple of bare patches nothing that bad but it's noticeable, what are the side effects from using what he used or should it have been ok? And what should he now do??? Thank you in advance for any help you can offer!!

It shouldn't cause any problems. The grass will grow through it.
It should be fine
Seed compost will be very low in fertiliser content.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Just keep watering it and keeping off it where possible until its established especially with this glorious weather where despite all the rain we've had it could dry out very easily.
I had a new lawn laid a few years ago - it did look very scruffy for a while but grass has an amazing ability to bounce back from very scruffy messes.
The only thing that would concern me is the amount of money I had wasted.
