I have been searching for certain plants recently and have stumbled across several small nurseries on line.

I have placed an order with one of them.  The exchange of initial emails was pleasant, informative and efficient.  The nursery stocks rockery and small plants and looks excellent.  The proof of the pudding will be when my small order of plants arrives.  Just been told it will be dispatched on Monday and delivered on Tuesday.

I have had excellent service from the National Herb Centre last year when I purchased plants.....albeit not herbs.....I could not get elsewhere for a very reasonable price.   Over recent years I have had great service from many apparently small nurseries online.    They put T & M and the like in the shade for plant quality and service

Others know of such nurseries?

Swines Meadow Farm Nursery gave me excellent service, communication and the plants where large and packaged very well. Certainly recommend.

I've bought hostas from nurseries on ebay and I've been happy with the service and quality.

I refer to this site a lot, which contains links to a number of small specialist nurseries.  I especially like the one at Roseland House for it's climbers....but there are many others here.... I find it a pleasure to explore... I hope you do too...

I have bought wildflower seeds from nutsncones from ebay ( they do have their own web site www.nutsncones.co.uk....... I so far am very very impressed they sent the wrong seeds and were apologetic and got the right packet to me the next day and have me some freebies.... They sell everything seed wise including a fantastic tomato collection. I obviously don't know yet what the seeds will do but..... I also bought wild garlic last year from ebay and was extremely impressed with the quality that I received. I checked with the seller off ebay that the plants were not harvested from the wild and he sent me images of his fields etc they were clean, strong plants ..... I use ebay a lot and so far have not been dissapointed

Hiya Stacey.  Never used eBay.  Lots do.  Just a bit suspicious of it.

www.plantsforshade.co.uk  (Long Acre Farm) are very friendly, answer individual queries and send out plants in fabulous condition and beautifully packed. Have used them several times now.

I have just ordered a couple of roses from Handley rose nurseries and a couple of packets of Aquilegia seeds from Touchwood plants and seeds. I haven't tried either of them before but both companies were very helpful.

To add to list of small nurseries online, check out Plants for small gardens.  Had my first order supplied today and everything about them was first class and efficient.  (posted this on Good Guys thread too...well, I relish the publicity )

Thanks Verdun - never heard of them.

This information is very useful, thank you.  I have only recently used ebay and the service was very efficient, and the Spring bulbs looked very healthy.  I will report on the results once they have flowered (or not, as the case may be).

Oh, plants for Small Gardens will include a free plant too with every order.

Still need convincing about eBay but........
