I need to know if I pick my poppy pods while they are still green and hang them to dry ,will the seeds be viable ?? This is my first year growing poppies and I absolutely love them. I am concerned they will not self sow in zone 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nannyang, I should keep your perennials in pots till the spring. Perennials need good root systems so are small for much longer than annuals or biennials as they use their energy to grow this, rather than top growth, so keeping them cossetted a bit longer helps them establish this Don't forget to water them when needed and an occasional weak feed perhaps once a month would help build healthy plants. It is great to grow your own from seed.
