Talkback: Growing ornamental poppies

I did not know you could shear back ornamental poppies and maybe get a few flowers later on! Will give this a go this year!

No mention of how to get these plants. Do I wait until summer and buy from a garden centre, or can I grow them from seed, how long will they take to flower?

I was given some red oriential poppy seed last summer.I sowed the seed in a pot and some spindly seedling appeared. These have stood still over winter. Will they start into growth in spring, and when will they flower?

I would like to grow many ornamental poppies in my small garden,can you sugest any other poppies I can grow along side the red poppies I already have.
