I have been doing this project for years with few differences. I use very large pinecones i find up high in the mountains, I spend a day hiking and searching,then i spread peanut butter all over them and push them around in bird seed until they are covered. i use red ribbons to hang them and put several in all my trees, the birds love them!! I call it Christmas for my feathered friends

is there cetain types of birds that are attracted to your brill idea, more than others?? Will def try this tho!!

Great idea to use peanut butter Ravens Gardens . I'm vegetarian and although I do use lard in this type of feeder, it is done through gritted teeth Now my problem will be how to stop myself eating the peanut butter before it gets to the pine cone
