Seedlings and onion sets
All the shallots and onions I planted are sprouting away happily. And only a few of them have popped out of the ground and needed pushing back. That always happens with sets, doesn't it?

I am a new veg gardener and have had some lovely produce. I have had some particularly good sized garlic and onions. Both of these have produced some seed heads which I have collected. The garlic seeds are like tiny little garlic cloves. What do I do with these seeds from both onion and garlic? When and where do I sow them? I sowed the original garlic and onions in the February and they were fantastic. Can anyone help me I can't find anything in any of the books & magazines I have.

Hi! Newbee gardener, good idea to visit a few open gardens in your area, you will find the things that will like your soil.

If you cover the onion sets when planting, the birds will not pull them up. They will still grow perfectly well.
