This dreadful(?) weather and planting!

I'm a brand new member to these forums and indeed a relatively new gardener.  In the last 2 years I've become addicted but my enthusiasm is tempered with my inexperience so here's a question I'd love some help with.  I've had two very successful years of growing veg -  all sorts of varieties, however, this year I have been 'bottling' planting out my young ones and have kept postponing my sowing for fear of everything being washed away in the rain or beaten by frost.  Am I right to hold off? Should I be braver? Any advice would be very welcome, thank you.

It depends on where you live !!!

 I live on the northeast coast so its still very cold here, even in April. I generally start setting away (veg seeds) at the beginning of April, onwards. As for my flower seed I start in January in the house, then move them into a heated greenhouse as things multiply.

I don't begin planting out until May - using cloches/fleece to help keep coastal winds from giving my plants a battering.

Can't see any problems with the way your thinking. Your doing everything right IMO.

What are you growing?

Thanks marshmello - that's reassuring, I live in Berkshire so I won't compete with the NE coast for challenging weather.  Maybe I've been spoilt by perfect weather before because usually at this time things are really happening, I don't have a greenhouse but fleece/cloches sounds like a good idea till things calm down and warm up.

Sotongeoff,  - I'm growing as much as I can - my early potatos are looking very sad, I've moved my herbs back into my shed window, and some other flowers and brassicas that I thought would be ok.
