Tree and bush dieback

A large ceanothus and a well established flamingo willow in my garden have got die back on some branches. They start going black about halfway up, then the leaves die.  I've cut down the flamngo willow, as this was the worst, but i'd like to save the ceanothus if possible. Apart from cutting out the dead branches - it spreads up the branch and eventually all the leaves die - is there anything else I can do?

  • There is very little else you can do about this. Ceanothus seems to be prone to this. Mine came into bud, half the bush died, the other half flowered and then died! I pruned but to no avail, unfortunately image
