Weeds

I planted some new leylandi trees to make a hedge last year, but the trees have been taken over by weeds, is there a weed killer I can use that won't kill my trees?

  • just pull up the weeds,it takes no time, and once the trees start  to grow the weeds wont grow there.

Leylandii are very vigorous and grow huge so once they get going you'll be wondering where the weeds went and how to control the Leylandii.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

When I saw the heading "Weeds taking over leylandii" I thought you were bragging image

Most sprays for general weeds, not brushwood killer or similar, will probably have little effect on leylandii.  Safer though to pull by hand until the leylandii get properly established.  Then you'll probably spend more time keeping the ******* leylandii under control than weeding.
