It's my wife's birthday soon and we would like to do somehting special. I know she would like a visit to David Austin's rose gardens in Shropshire, but that's a bit far away from where were are in east Hampshire to go for just a day trip.

Does anyone know anything similar in the Hampshire/Sussex or even Berkshire area that might be a good alternative?

Thanks for the help!

this is rather late and I expect your wife has enjoyed her birthday by now, I hope she had a nice time and that you managed to find somewhere to take her, but as you live in Hampshire, you might be interested in Mottisfont Gardens near Romsey.  Beautiful rose gardens in a magnificent setting.   Probably not too far for you.  Visit in mid June and preferably after some dry weather - roses don't look their best after the usual downpours.

Nymans Gardens, at Handcross near Haywards Heath, West Sussex might also suit - their rose gardens are wonderful too.

Sissinghurst in Kent has wonderful roses (and peonies and ...). Would recommend
