Well the other has just arrived Bjay, so I now have two boxes calling me to open them. But I promised Jess she could help, so I'm off to pick her up now, and the fun and games will start in about an hour!

Went to a very smart restaurant once, I pointed out that I didn't want roast lion thank you. Manager apology, didn't knock anything off bill though

Hope I get the Queen and not Prince Charles

I 'joined' the thread last summer and have enjoyed all the friendly banter, advice and have learnt a lot, not only about gardening. Long may it continue.

Just today-advice about how to get a plug white-you cannot put a price on that

Oh and news on French smalls being an hour difference to ours

06/02/2013 at 16:34

Precisely Geoff, that's what I mean. How would we get through the day without such information

Whatever happened to this Gary bloke?

Bradley Wiggins and Team Sky hold the yellow jersey in Tour de France. You could put a tenner on Bradley to be holding the jersey on the Champs-Elysees in a fortnight's time. He is actually the bookies favourite, though, personally, I regard it as very risky and shall not be investing. It's just too easy to fall off a bike. The odds are here:

http://www.oddschecker.com/other-sports/cycling/tour-de-france/winner

The odds on Bradley winning are 10/11. I think that means that if you invest 10 shillings, and he wins, and you make 1 shilling. I really can't see that as the way to make a fortune.

OMG, what a sight to come home too!

Busy day, shops, bank, phonecalls, still to sort out washing/airing. Daughter will be home sometime soon. Ah, like now....

Boiler started again just now, whilst on the phone, & because I ignored it, it shut up- I wish it were that simple.

OH should be around next Monday so shall suggest that he organises the engineer visit etc for then!

Right off to get washing in & think of something inspirirng for meal..... back later I expect. J.

Bjay, don't even consider a trip back to early Forkland. As you can see from Geoffrey's titbits, you haven't missed anything   It's a bit like Not the Nine o Clock News or the Now Show in that being topical (sort of) it doesn't come across right when the moment has passed.  I suspect early contributors who are still with us have read all of it !!!

lHad felafels and salad. Waiting for egg-custardy style rice pud to finish baking. Will save half to have cold for breakfast tomorrow.

06/02/2013 at 17:16

Oooh, rice pud  Haven't made one for ages. Need to get some more milk first.

06/02/2013 at 17:18

I made one last night and it was yummy. It will be re-heated tonight served with a nice dollop of strawberry jam.

In this sort of weather I want comfort food - anyone else feel the same?

I have to cook dinner - OH not up to it - still poorly we are having Cottage pie followed by cheese for OH and the dog and fresh fruit for me
