in The potting shed
A bright day ahead, so need to get busy. Really must do some weeding , and also the dreaded shed clearance.
My Photo of the Day... bluebells on their way up... (that we mentioned yesterday)....
Morning all. I know what you mean about the muscles Dove, mine are telling me I've used them!
Another nice day and I'm stuck at my desk! Might even walk to the plot at lunchtime (still car-less) but the trouble is by the time I get there I have about 10 minutes there and its time to come back again! I'm hoping to have the car back on the road tomorrow though.
We have two types of hibiscus, one is outside, and one is a houseplant. Quite different but I guess they come from the same family.
Morning everyone Bit on the chilly side here today and no sun but at least it's not raining. Just looking at the new bumble bee border. Can't wait to get planting and make it look a bit more colourful but will have to wait a while yet . At least it's done.
Patio could do with a good clean but its pointless until the work's finished..
Have a good day , everyone.
Quick hello -must get attired-back shortly
Morning all. Going shopping - not GC - daughter & 3 grandsons coming to stay (school hols).
Just occured to me, Geoff was not attired when he wrote the above. Hope his house is warm.
Woke this morning with just a slight hint of the headache and generally feel much better. It's taken a week of feeling grim, still lingering but feel bit more like ME
OH has said he'll take me to a GC this afternoon, I have a token to be used by end of month and this morning will do a seedling check - quite a hwavy frost here overnight, bird bath still frozen
Now resplendent--did have dressing gown on earlier
The hibiscus dilemma was discussed a few days back -to repeat this is how the rhs describe it by covering virtually every base
Sun is out, but clouds lurking.
Planning on more garden tidying up today.
The sun is out here and so are BBC journalists-having a strike day to coincide with half-term week
Has Bunny been got at by a fox?
Hi Becks I was wndering if you would like some seeds - veg - or are you OK?
The Good Life is over
Sun finally out here as well Keep looking at border and want to do stuff but I know it's too early.
Question. I re-potted the clematis a fortnight ago and they are putting on good growth . They are in the conservatory for now until we get the trellis panels up. Does anyone think I should give them a feed or not ? They were potted in J Arthurs with J Innes.
No feed- and they are growing because they are too warm Jean-they would be better in the greenhouse or cold frame until you plant them
No Jean Wait 6 weeks
I've just found 2 crocus out, nothing unusual you may say, except that I have not planted any and they are in some rough ground where I encourage wild flowers, Couls birds have moved corms there?
What about squirrels - they are partial to digging up crocus bulbs, and replanting them. They're only trying to be helpful - spreading the bulbs around for you.
Did you hear that on Gardeners QT they said that hanging up a bar of scented soap deters squirrels. - Chris Beardshaw tip
Never thought of squirrels Gary
Righty-ho I'll move them . Thanks folks.
Well, that was an interesting walk to the shops with Jess and her scooter! Had promised her a chip shop lunch, but she changed her mind in the Co-Op and opted for a prawn pasta salad bowl instead!! What type of child am I bringing up!!! Was really looking to a chippie!
Home now, and can carry on in the garden.
Bjay, I'm pretty set up with all my veg seeds thanks, unless you have anything unusual?
If anyone doesn't want any climbing french bean seeds -I'm your man
