Ok, got 2 of the raised beds in...
The hillbilly cloche effort that doesn't fit is the top I hacksawed off a 4 shelf plastic greenhouse and half-heartedly lashed some sort of covering to. BTW, the rest of the shelving's outside next to my proper gh, and very useful it is too!
And this is the second...no., I haven't half filled it with dust, underneath that layer of riddled wood ash/home compost and leafmould is double dug manure and garden soil. The tools are there in a vain effort to dissuade the neighbour's cats from thinking it's the largest litter tray they've ever seen. The mirror is one Bloke and I plonked there to try and reflect some more light into that space, which gets quite shaded in the sumer when the beech trees in the next door garden come into leaf. I thought it would be a good place for brassicas - psb, kale, maybe brussel sprouts - which can grow on during the summer then get full light as the leaves drop.
And I found half a dumpy bag of leaf mould/topsoil up my back passage which Bloke dug up when I sacrificed a rather unsuccessful bed for the log store, so should be able to fill all 3 beds with goodies...FREE!!!!! Still have the dug up plants (clumps of snowdrops, hellebores, sarcoccus, vinca minor) heeled into dumpy bag of leaf mould which I'll plonk into the shady border when I've got the energy.
