I made it back without mishap-now have a dilemma-malteser or liquorice allsort ?

08/06/2012 at 15:05

That's easy - both! I have chocolate eclairs, the toffee kind.

'Braved' the allotment, got caught in one shower but got some useful stuff done so worth nearly being blown away. Also rescued the lid of the coldframe from in the potato bed. Plus picked a handful of strawberries before the slugs managed to get them.

Lottie so brave

Geoff any point asking you to share?

08/06/2012 at 15:28

Nope -cody and I are ok thanks.

Kate -have you done anything brave today?

My nasturtiums have taken a battering and were just about to flower

08/06/2012 at 15:36

I am a southern softie

My nasturiums look more yellow than white, they may be moving to MIL.

08/06/2012 at 15:52

We are all southern softies apparently-they make em tougher oop north.

When we get the next heatwave this will be swiftly forgotton

08/06/2012 at 16:10

Kate, same with my nastertiums - not the creamy colour I was hoping for.

I am brave, so have awarded myself another toffee eclair.

Out of interest, when is the next heatwave?

08/06/2012 at 16:19

Coming soon, to an office near you, until the weekend, as that is the law.

Was it warm when you were in Spain?

08/06/2012 at 16:35

yes lovely and warm, I even got a bit brown.

Mondays are always lovely and sunny. Especially when it has poured with rain all weekend.

08/06/2012 at 16:36

Next heatwave is scheduled for September according to my mum, snow next week.

08/06/2012 at 16:42

I have been rather naughty

08/06/2012 at 17:43

I have just realised it hasn't rained for nearly two whole hours: I think it's turning into summer.

How long do leeks normally take to germinate outside?  I sowed mine 10 days ago: I think they must be growing in Australia ....

08/06/2012 at 17:50

Rained hard here all night, but lightening up now. Planted dianthus, lobelia, and some pretty frilly red lettuce called Lollo Rossa. Off to do the weekly shop later.

08/06/2012 at 18:07

It is has been raining in Wales for 24 hours so we must consider ourselves lucky?

Pam knows about leeks- she answered a question earlier and might pop in-I have great faith so unless they have been washed away watch that space !

08/06/2012 at 18:12

Geoff did you go out in your speedos again?

Inkadog, how self sufficient is the island?

smallswan nothing is germinating, nature knew this was coming.

08/06/2012 at 18:22

No-I ate something -and then a bit more

08/06/2012 at 18:24

Maltesers and allsorts?

08/06/2012 at 18:25

No condensed milk on a teaspoon then had some more -doesn't make me a bad person

How is footy?

08/06/2012 at 18:29

Kate, the island is fairly self-sufficient--there are 2 grocery/liquor stores, a great veggie market, a pub, a class resort, harbours, two provincial parks [one of which runs a bus to the pub from the campground], and a farmers'market every Saturday. There is no bank, but several ATM machines. We have a library, school, and bookstore. I take the ferry to town every so often to stock up on meat, etc, and have a huge freezer. We have a medical center, but have been looking for a doctor for over a year- we have to make do with locums and a nurse practitioner. Dentist comes once a week.

08/06/2012 at 18:47

Maybe bad teeth

Penalties, sending offs, disallowed goals, all the fun of the fair.

Inkadog- no doctor, you must all keep an eye on your health, I have not been to a bank in years, what about a post office?
