Not enough seedlings to be exciting yet, but my plug plants will be coming next week.

Caz W

Perhaps we could have a Plug Plant Day next week Liz

I'll send a photo when I've potted them all up and the greenhouse is full. But my shelving is a bit Heath Robinson and I'm not as tidy as some on this forum!

Rosa carriola you posted a picture on page 4 of this thread of a carex. I have one of these and it has got far too big. Can they be divided? Also I've noticed lots of little plants around the big one. Are these plantlets and can I dig them up and pot them up? Also do you cut them dowm in spring?

If anyone else cares to look back at the picture of Rosa carriola's carex on page 4 and can answer my question I'd be very grateful. Thank you

Hi there tattiana

My carex gets very big and I have had to move plants about to make room as it seems to take over. I have lots of little ones about as well. I have dug them up in autumn and have a row waiting to re-plant somewhere else. I have tried splitting them I think it was only the good sized clumps that took, but that may have been the conditins I had in the previous house, and not really looking after the bits as we moved. _ You can only give it a go

FloBear

Bev, hope your babies are happy. What sort of plants do you have there?

tattianna

Ok thank you Rosa for that...so do you cut them down at all in the spring? I have another grass which I know the name of and the care instructions suggest to cut it down in the spring to encourage new growth and just wondered if this was the case with all or most of them. Perhaps I should put this question out in the plants forum to see if anyone has any further advice. You never know we both could learn something about our plants

Bev - your babies are looking good

Mine are taking over the conservatory - especially the monster courgettes - FEED ME NOW springs to mind

Glad I only sowed 4 seeds early on!  Have sown a few more which are just peeping through but hopefully it will be warm enough for them to move to greenhouse before they take over

Caz look great like the GH, courgette look nice size, what are you growing?

Bunny ...
Think caz is growing the giant beanstalk

Hi Gardengirl, I've got some sweet peppers, tumbling tomatoes (the bigger plants in the picture) and some San Marzano tomatoes, cucumber (an outside variety "La Diva"), some marigolds and nasturtium which are good companions and some Helichrysum (Everlasting Flowers) and Alyssum.  Have still got to do some runner beans and sweet peas but am running out of indoor space

Son bought me the diddy greenhouse about 2 years ago from Ikea.
