Don't birds and berries react to what has been rather than what will be.

Fairygirl

Glad all's well with chicklet!

Maybe you're all in the eye of the storm.....

Haven't done any tulips yet although I've taken note of a few I'd like and I've got some white ones not planted yet. What are 'Ballade' like chick?

archiepem

not  a bad day at work bit blowy  here.and rain . moved pots and put bricks on bins .  pork for dinner  hope your all ok down south ,

nutcutlet

I think this b.......storm isn't here yet and nutwimpcutlet doesn't like it. But I'm a big girl now so I'll put the earplugs in and wait for morning

BobTheGardener

Gone calm here too - for now..  FG, I don't know that one but one I can recommend as it has a beautiful scent and tends to come back well for me is Ballerina. It's orange so may not fit in with some colour schemes but it looks great in combo with the pastel blue forget-me-nots which come up all over my garden every year.

Glad Chicklet got there safely

Am tucked up inside and can't hear the weather -hurrah! I'm as prepared as I can be, moved half full (and quite heavy) brown bin to the front of the placcy greenhouse so it should be ok. The back is against the 6 foot fence and should be ok. So lets see what happens

I can't wait for spring too, nothing like seeing the bulbs come up. That does mean we would miss the helibores though

Fairy - ballade is pink -never grown it before but fell in love with it on a display at chelsea this year.  Hope it lives up to expectations!  I have considered ballerina too Bob - maybe next year.  I think they have them in the "free" GW offer in the Oct mag?

KEF

Chicky happy to hear chicklet arrived safe.

Fairygirl

Ballerina's one I thought of getting Bob. I will have quite a bit of dark purple and white in the bed they'd go in and wanted a few orange ones to have a bit of contrast and pzazz!

If it's hot pink I might consider it chick!

KEF

Stacey I haven't bought from RHS so can't say.

fidgetbones

I usually get  RHS seed, Stacey. Not many seeds in a packet, but adequate for a few plants for the garden.  They often have unusual varieties.   This year the number of packets of seed has been cut from 20 to 12.

Tulips. I have taken advantage of various offers, and freebies with orders. The purple ones are going on the front.  The orange and pinks and reds on the back, above blue forgetme nots.

If we get a few dry days, I am going to clear a bed of shasta daisies, reduce down the acanthus spinosus, and heave out a load of paeonia delavayi. That should make quite a space, I'm going to replant some aquilegias i potted up earlier on in the year, and i have some more giant yellow tree lilies to plant.

KEF

Soz folks I've just replied on Morning thread & have now pressed ignore. Needed to do it.

Fairygirl

Bob - did you eventually get all your bulbs?

KEF

Oops just done same on Evening thread.

nutcutlet

Someone will be Archiepem, and a member somewhere will know who it is.

chicky

Will keep my eye open for bogof daffs archie!  Maybe start a thread to get wider pick up?

Fairygirl

Think a lot of the supermarkets do that sort of thing don't they?

Got any tarts tonight archie?

BobTheGardener

FG - no!  I have received lots of other bulbs but the tulips "Will be despatched in November, when they are ready" is the latest message!  I don't really mind with tulips as I always plant them later anyway but why send a message saying they have been despatched in the first place when they hadn't, then a message saying they must have got lost so they will send another lot by the end of the week, before the latest message?

Still, there are now 150 crocus, 50 multi-headed daffs, 225 anenome, 50 fritilaria and 25 ipheion in the ground so it should look good even sans tulipa!
