Many thanks all. The sale is over and the house almost bare, just a few things waiting for folk to collect them. I am not sure how soon the house sale will go through now - the original completion date was to have been 28th Nov, but as with all these things it is being delayed by this and that.
The purchasers are away from 10th to 23 Dec, so I expect to be here until sometime in Jan. I have kept a few bits of furniture so I will be perfectly comfortable and at least it was not a mad panic to get moved in the week following the sale
I am off tomorrow to check out some motorhomes and my brother is coming with me for a bit of input - there are so many to choose from.
I will post a photo when I finally get one
All the best
Glad it all went well for you, Sue. Look forward to seeing some photos of the motorhome when you get one. Don't get one that's too big, can't get into some supermarket parking lots if it's too big/high, particularly in France!
Hi again All
House sale still not completed but I couldnt be bothered to wait and so have set off. I am trying to write a journal and add something most days, depending on what I am doing. I am currently around the Lake District area but due to head for the Highland tomorrow if the weather is a little less blustery, The on up to John o Groats and I hope take the ferry to Orkney and if that goes ok on up to Shetland to maybe see the Northern lights - if the skies ever clear
If you want to check up on me this is my journal there are not many photos at the beginning, but now I am travelling I am adding more
Sue - your blog is great - I've just popped in and read a few pages but already I'm hooked - I love it and will keep reading it .................
Wow - that was quick. Pleased you like it.
Sue, read up to chapter 7, was gripped, but I really must go to bed as it's after midnight where I am, in Dordogne. You could make it a book! It's great. Please keep in touch. Are you really going to the Italian lakes? We'll be there in September.
As it says - The Worlds My Lobster.
Pleased you liked it
I like oysters, but lobster is far superior! Good night!
Hallo Sue, how lovely to hear from you again! So glad I ticked "Email me when a response is made", otherwise I might have missed you. Have just read the whole interesting and witty blog and am astounded at your energy and resourcefulness, you sound like a person "after me own heart"! We too sold up everything and went sailing for 4 years 30 years ago, but were much younger then.
I have bookmarked it and will look in regularly to keep up with your adventures.
Take great care and enjoy every moment of your travels
Hugs to you and Phoebe

What does that mean?
Your blog is fantastic Sue, really enjoyable read, I hope you can eventually publish this in book form , you will become the new Helene Hanff.
I think Brenda is bumping it up so it stays near the top of the page!
Thanks Lyn - have now made it to up by John o Groats and waiting for the weather to calm down so we can take the ferry to orkney
Its very very windy here, but the sun is shining this morning and I am looking out over a blue sea though I am mostly keeping inside Thebus
Glad you're enjoying your travels, Sue! Meant to ask before, do you need an HGV license to drive Thebus?
I am old enough to have grandfather rights
I have written about it here
But I may take a test for an upgrade to my licence which would allow me to carry more weight
Oh sorry Sue, senile moment! Of course, I've read your blog, must have forgotten that bit! How is Phoebe enjoying her trip? Bet you get some looks when that tiny dog comes out of the bus! Keep enjoying, looking forward to reading more of your blog in a week or two.
Like it all great dane cartoons welcome !!
Great !! Thanks
