Yes, getting on ok. Just a beginner really, but loving it. We are about 10 miles from Cambridge.

I have just down a slug run, it is chilly out there, I hope you have all your plants wrapped up nice and toasty.

KG are you excited? are you a good flyer, do you sleep or read?

04/05/2012 at 23:26

V excited!   Unfortunately I cannot read on the plane.  It's a nuisance because I love reading and I could read a whole book in the time it takes to get to Melbourne.

04/05/2012 at 23:30

Are you flying direct or do you get a stop over? Movies, 24 hours is a long flight

04/05/2012 at 23:32

@Rob Stevens, well you are much informed

Sounds like your version is very attentive. Trial and error and personal experience are always the best ways since everybody's garden environment is different. What I meant by loose frame was to push stakes or pruned branches around the clump in a circle and use string to bind the circle together. I saw it done at Kew once but I'm thinking that is for very large clumps probably. The theory behind it is a little sway is okay, but holding the flowers too tightly will snap them.

Your methods with the figure of 8 sounds great.

@AllotmentMax, im quite a novice too just learning as I go! Good luck

There is a three hour stop at Dubai.  I have spent quite a few hours at Dubai over the years but never got out of the airport!  I can't sleep on the plane but I listen to a lot of music to drown out the droaning of the engines.

I'm hoping that it doesn't rain tonight because I want to give my lawn a good mow before I leave.

04/05/2012 at 23:44

Have a good flight/trip KG! Hope your garden is full of wonder when you return

04/05/2012 at 23:46

KG I did a stop at LA once I went shopping with a girl I met on the plane it was a bit surreal. Dubai would be interesting.

It seemed too cold out there to rain. How much else have you got tod do before you go?

04/05/2012 at 23:51

When mum was still OK she once went over on her own and stopped over for a night at Singapore on the way!  We all wondered how she would get on but needn't have worried because they obviously knew how to look after a granny.

04/05/2012 at 23:52

I would love to go to singapore, maybe one day.

It is raining here too-KG flying out 6.25 Friday morning-most of the packing done!

Have got The Ice Princess to read

05/05/2012 at 08:16

Always good to have a book to read on holiday!  I'm taking Michael Crighton with me (hope he enjoys the trip).

I won't be able to mow the lawns before I go on holiday and they need cutting already!  What will they look like by the end of May??  I have a feeling that dad might have a go with the mower

Finally managed to get a before and after set of photos.
