So impressed. I need to try more cuttings. I was amazed afte watching carol Klein then running out and trying it ...and mostly all taken. When I buy plants I take cuttings first before planting. Thinking need to keep trying more and more. As yet I have not tried enough !

Not so sure about 'expert' Kate I just bung 'em in and hope they grow

I will be taking my Puts Folly fuchsia cuttings sometime in the next few days - I need 24 for my basket tree baskets - so I will take 48 if I can - that will give me plenty of plants to play with

Now I feel completly inadequate...

I have a couple of seeds in pots on my windowsill and 6x hollyhock nigra / 6x lupin 4 hostas & 4 rose cuttings in pots in my coldframe..

I think I need to get my ass into gear, lol

. I don't want anyone to feel inadequate - just because I have an obsession for taking cuttings and growing plants for my OTT front garden

I just like people to know it can be done -no mystery to it

Today I have taken 2 cuttings off a broken branch that was on a newLy bought Cornus Midwinter Fire, and walking round garden found a wind damaged bit of Clematis cartmanii 'Joe' so nothing ventured nothing gained - have stuck those in a pot - managed to get 2, covered in bag and popped on some heat.

Not very good at cuttings, so will try,even if wrong time of year Is it worth a punt??

Nothing to lose Rosa. I would expect success with the cornus, never had any luck with clematis at any time. Wonder if I could do the same with a variegated rhamnus that broke under the weight of snow.

I got my clematis to take root... Shove it in an see approach here

I just need more time Pam ...seriously lacking most of the year, can end up working 7 days a week....last yr 2 days off feb-dec, no hol for 3yrs

Hoping to get this yr more organised and sort OH time off, we run own business from home so little escape ! He knows what structure work I need done in garden to help me out now to grab the time hehe.
I'm slowing getting my mum round to cuttings, I've got her onto seed sowing next its veg and cuttings

This morning I took 12 African Blue Basil cuttings and 48 Puts Folly trailing fuchsia cuttings -I need 24 for my hanging basket tree

I have been really busy potting up the cuttings I took at the end of the summer .I will have plenty of plants to play with at planting time

Hi Pam, enjoyed looking at your pics and all those cuttings......I live in a flat but have a balcony and sort of garden space, I took about 15 cuttings last summer from trailing and upright geraniums, I left them on my bathroom and window sill, they are doing really well. I have them in small plant pots, do you think I should pot them on again, was just going to harden them off when it got warmer and put them straight out, can't upload pics from this device but it is nice to see other members piccies, barb

Flower bird- have a look at the roots of your plants and if they look strong and healthy I would be tempted to pot them on to the next size pot - there are still a few weeks to go before we can plant them out.If the pots aren't full of roots maybe you could give them a feed

Just wanted to say thanks Pam, I potted on my geraniums today, they are well rooted and now looking forward to being planted out when it warms up. Barb
