What is the benefit of bulb fibre over multi-purpose compost for my prepared hyacinths? (and I presume, any indoor grown bulbs).   I've got my bulbs and multi-purpose compost.  Should I go and buy a largish bag of something I only want a little of?   Thanks, Mags

Often indoor bulbs are grown in containers with no drainage holes.  Bulb fibre has charcoal in it to stop the compost becoming sour because the water doesn't drain through.

Oh - so is that the only reason?                  I could use multi-purpose then?  Mags
