Seeds are up - Page 18

Might be right hollie. If they don't grow roots quickly they're in trouble. I've still got some night catchfly that germinated instantly when I sowed it in September. I thought it needed chilling, perhaps does if it's gone dormant but this was straight off the plant. Getting a bit crowded in the pot but I'm sure it will survive.

It was much warmer than this in March last year.

I shall have to look at my one echinacea Busy-Lizzie. My record so far is not good. I'd planted it out but on advice from the team I dug it up again and put it in the cold greenhouse. Time will tell. Maybe this time I'll have an echinacea that lives long enough to flower.

Yes a completly different winter and early Spring this year than last. Might be better to leave things well alone until the weather is warmer and they have more of an established root system. I've left a lot of my wallflowers alone, a bit leggy but they are growing.

Sowed some Echinecias weeks ago inside, I thought only 2 had germinated, another 1 popped up today. I find these plants a bit tricky, but will leave alone to see if more will germinate.

Few common burdock seed are up not many though

Keeping an eye on the false sunflower, except today, left it all to look after itself.

My garden's a little bit shady so takes a while to get going in the spring - needs the sun to get higher in the sky.  I don't have a greenhouse  but do have coldframe and wooden growhouse on southfacing fence.  

I've got heritage tomato seeds to sow - I've not started them yet 'cos I didn't want them to outgrow the kitchen windowsill and have nowhere to move them on to in this weather, but time's running out - shall I start them off next weekend???

It can't stay this cold for ever can it?

I've been saying 'it can't stay this cold much longer' for weeks now Dove. I haven't done any of my spring sowing yet

I still havent started my tomatoes yet, was going to do them earlier in the year but so glad I didn't. By now they would be leggy with no chance of putting them outside in this weather. Was having trouble with my delphiniums but I think I was overwatering them.
