Trailer of top soil

Is it possible to buy a trailer load of top soil from a gardening centre. I'm paying a fortune for bags of top soil. I don't have a tow bar so I'm thinking of checking can the local centre deliver a trailer load. Is this service normally provided? What kind of cost would be reasonable?

price it up ie wickes or b+q do ton bags . but try get a price and delivery , from your local GC
Wickes will deliver bulk 1 tonne bags of Rolawn top soil.

Many suppliers sell it in 'tonne' bags aka builders bags which contain 1 cubic metre. These are usually delivered by a large truck with a hydraulic crane built on to the back, or sometimes by a large van with a heavy duty trolley, so reasonable access is needed to your property. Google "topsoil tonne bags" and your town/city.
cheers guys. The wickes price per tonne is a lot. I see it's just a multiple of the £6 per 50l soil on sale from bandq.
local garden centre said if I have my own trailer I could collect a load for £20. Surely there's a huge difference in price there.
I'll pop in again tomorrow and ask more about it.
Thanks Mike.
As Mike has said, topsoil can be very hit and miss. When we had our garden done the guy doing the work sent the first lorry away as he said there was more clay and rubble than soil. Second lot was very good quality.
Needless to say, you need to be there when they deliver to ensure it's acceptable. Getting them to take it back if it's been dumped off a lorry onto your drive could be difficult.
Cheers KT, I might just buy in lots of compost and blend it in with the existing soil yet. I'm going to pop round to my gc tomorrow, I'll let you all know the outcome. Thanks everyone.
Surely bags of compost will be more expensive than topsoil
Not sure what your project is, but for growing things my preferred route is to dig in lots of well rotted farmyard manure(bought in bags from the GC if not available direct) rather than bought compost.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I'm planning on lifting a lot of gravel and replenishing the nutrients into the soil underneath Dove.
It's about 10x2 metres size wise. So a fair bit of soil or manure but probably not tonne amount needed. I think I might go for a mix of topsoil, compost and a wee bit of manure blended in.
